If you're craving something sweet and comforting but don't want to spend hours in the kitchen, this easy apple tart is the answer! With just a few ingredients – a buttery shortcrust pastry and fresh, juicy apples – you’ll have a simple yet irresistible dessert. Just bake it up and enjoy the warm, fragrant aroma filling your kitchen. Trust me, it's so easy and so yummy!

Ingredients:

For The Pastry

  • 225 gr. plain flour

  • 140 gr. butter

  • 3 Tbsp caster sugar or powder sugar

  • 1 Egg

  • 3 Tbsp ice cold water

For the Filling

  • 3-4 apples, peeled and finely sliced

  • 1 Tbsp Brown Sugar

  • 1 Tsp cinnamon

  • 1 Tbsp Plain Flour

  • 1 Egg For Glazing

Powder Sugar for Dusting (optional)

Instructions:

  • To prepare the pastry: In a food processor, blend the butter, sugar, and flour until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Add the egg and water, then pulse again until the dough starts to come together in large lumps. Be careful not to over-blend, as this could make the dough heavy. Transfer the dough to a clean work surface and gently push it together—avoid kneading, as we just want to form the pastry. Wrap it in cling film and refrigerate for 15-30 minutes.

  • Finally, slice your apples and toss them in the sugar, cinnamon, and flour until well coated.

  • Roll out the pastry and place it on a lined baking tray. Spoon the apple filling into the center, then fold the edges of the pastry up around the filling. Brush the pastry with beaten egg and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 40 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown.

  • To serve, dust with icing sugar (optional) and enjoy with a dollop of cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
